The Accreditation Commission for Integrative Sciences (ACIS) and its credentialing board, the International Board of Trichology & Holistic Medicine (IBTHM), oversee continuing education to ensure that practitioners remain competent, ethical, and aligned with current research and best practices in the integrative sciences.

About Continuing Education Oversight

Continuing Education (CE) is a vital component of maintaining professional integrity, competency, and credibility within the fields of Trichology, Holistic Medicine, and Integrative Health Sciences.

 

The ACIS/IBTHM CE Oversight Division:

  • Establishes standards and criteria for CE programs and providers.

  • Reviews and approves continuing education courses, workshops, and seminars.

  • Verifies compliance for all Board-Certified practitioners renewing their credentials.

  • Ensures that CE content supports the advancement of science, ethics, and practice.

CE Requirements for Practitioners​​

 

Annual Renewal & Continuing Education Compliance

All practitioners certified through IBTHM are required to complete a minimum of 10 Continuing Education (CE) hours per year to maintain active certification status.

CE requirements include:

  • 10 verified CE hours annually (minimum).

  • CE courses must be approved by ACIS/IBTHM or an accepted provider.

  • Documentation of CE completion must be uploaded during annual renewal.

  • Practitioners who fail to meet CE requirements may be placed on inactive status until compliance is met.

To qualify, providers must:

  • Demonstrate expertise and credibility in their field.

  • Offer programs consistent with ACIS/IBTHM’s ethical and educational standards.

  • Submit course objectives, outlines, instructor bios, and CE hour breakdowns.

  • Maintain accurate attendance and completion records for all attendees.

  • Renew provider status annually.

CE Course Review Process

How Courses Are Reviewed and Approved

Application Submission

Providers submit their course details, instructor credentials, and learning objectives via the online form.

Academic & Ethical Review

The ACIS/IBTHM CE Committee reviews each submission for scientific accuracy, educational value, and ethical alignment.

Approval & Provider Listing

Upon approval, the provider receives an official CE Provider Certificate and is added to the approved provider directory.

Graduation Celebration

Maintaining CE Provider Status

Requirements for Renewal:

  • Annual renewal of provider status.

  • Submission of updated course outlines and attendance logs.

  • Payment of renewal fee (if applicable).

  • Adherence to all current ACIS/IBTHM CE standards and ethics policies.

 

Providers found in violation of the ACIS/IBTHM Code of Ethics or who offer misleading or unverified information may have their approval revoked.
